jpeacock2_mediumJuliann has had a passion for music from a very young age.  She started taking piano lessons at the age of seven and continued studying throughout high school.  Juliann competed in many piano festivals and competitions.  Juliann’s first experience with choral singing was in seventh grade and she has been singing in a choir ever since.  She participated in Concert Choir at Woods Cross High School, and during her senior year, she auditioned for and was selected to be part of the Madrigals.

Personnel Manager - Kathryn Ariotti

kariotti_mediumKathryn discovered her love for the arts at age 5, when she started studying piano.  Even at such a young age, Kathryn knew that she wanted to pursue and master the talent she was given.  She continued to study throughout junior high and high school, placing first and second place at statewide competitions.  During her junior and senior year in high school, Kathryn had the opportunity to study under Lenora Ford Brown, and Susan Duehlmeier at the University of Utah.

Just like her sister Juliann, Kathryn was able to sing with the Concert choir and Madrigal choir at Woods Cross High School her junior and senior year, serving as the Madrigal President.  She was also a member of the Jazz ensemble on the keyboard.

Kathryn has had the amazing opportunity to sing under the direction of Dr. Cameron Rose with Utah Master Chorale, and Dr. Michael Huff with Salt Lake Symphonic Choir.  She is ecstatic to be able to work with Dr. Huff again in Utah Voices, as well as the wonderful and supportive members of the choir.

Kathryn and her husband Andrew currently reside in Bountiful, and are the proud parents of two little boys.

Treasurer - John Livingston
jlivingston_mediumJohn was born in Boise, Idaho and was raised in Orem, Utah.  John is the youngest of six brothers with one younger sister rounding out the bunch.  John and his amazingly talented and beautiful wife Alison live in South Jordan, Utah and are the proud parents of two perfect little girls (Abby and Mercy).  John holds a bachelor's degree in information technology and a masters in business administration and currently works as a technical program manager for software development at Mozy.  John loves being with friends and family, being active, and is a big geek that loves anything that has to do with technology.

John learned to appreciate and love the performing arts at a young age and was known to provide riveting performances "conducting" classical anthems (via LP) from atop the fireplace hearth at the age of three!  By the age of 10 John found himself performing in various school musical productions including a leading role in the "Pirates of Penzance".  John was never fully comfortable with "the stage" as an actor/singer but he did find a home and love for choral singing during high school where he sang with the Bass Clef Union, the Acapella Choir,  and the Madrigals at Mountain View High School.

Following high school John went on to sing with the Utah Valley State College Acapella choir as well as the Mormon Youth Chorus.  In recent years John has had the privilege of singing under Cameron Rose with the Utah Master Chorale as well as under Dr. Michael Huff with the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir.  John is extremely excited to be a part of Utah Voices and to have the opportunity to work with Dr. Huff and the other talented members of The Board.  Further, John is thrilled to be able to make great music with Utah Voices and looks forward to the lasting memories that will be created as part of this new adventure!

Program Manager - Mike Taylor

mtaylor_mediumMike loves music and has for most of his life. Most of his musical experience as a young person was instrumental, specifically, playing the saxophone. Mike studied under Nick Falone in junior high and then Mr. Bird in high school. When Mr. Bird retired, Mike played under the direction of Howard Johnson. Mike was very privileged to play with a number of very fine musicians that went on to play professionally throughout the country. They were able to take first place in the University of Utah Jazz Festival and third place in the Reno Jazz Festival.

As a young boy, Mike sang with his parents in their ward choir. They were very lucky to sing under the baton of Bonnie Winterton, who later went on to become the assistant conductor of the Utah Symphony Choir. It has been Mike’s honor to sing in several special event choirs with Dr. Huff, as well as under his direction with the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir. He is delighted to sing with Dr. Huff again, now as a member of Utah Voices.

Professionally, Mike is a car nut! He operates Budget Rent-a-Car in the state of Utah. He also flies airplanes and helicopters. Mike loves almost anything that moves with an engine. He has three absolutely amazing children: Niki, Adam and Heidi, along with their spouses and nine grandchildren (Mike is only ten, so he doesn’t know how that happened!)

Mike loves being involved with the great people of Utah Voices and looks forward to many wonderful experiences with the group.

Marketing Manager - Bronwyn Evans
bevans_mediumBronwyn Evans didn't study piano, but she took piano lessons, which helps when learning the notes for one of her favorite musical activities—singing. From her debut as a soprano in the 6th-grade choir at the DAR School in Alabama, Bronwyn has been an alto in some type of choral group (large to small) in school, church, or community almost every year since and hasn’t looked back. A West Tennessee native, she grew up in Alabama and Georgia, where she developed a love for choral singing, including trio competitions.

Long before she began her favorite career of being a mother to two terrific children, Bronwyn majored in advertising and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from BYU. She worked part-time as a publicity writer for what is now known as BYU’s Performing Arts Management office. She spent more than 10 years as a copywriter/publicist for Deseret Book Company where she specialized in several aspects of product promotion. Bronwyn also spent five years as the company's event coordinator for author/artist appearances and special events. This background led to a number of volunteer gigs such as publicity specialist for Mormon Youth Chorus and Symphony, publicity director for Utah’s Junior Miss Scholarship Program, and Arts Committee and Pageant Committee Publicist for Bountiful Handcart Days. Today, she does some freelance writing and publicity.

Bronwyn’s professional goal for Utah Voices is to help it become a well-known name among the performing groups in Northern Utah. Her personal goal is to embrace all that Utah Voices offers in addition to the singing. She and her husband, Lynn, live with their family in Centerville, where she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, walking, and baking sweet concoctions.

Executive Secretary - Ariel Smith
asmith_smallAriel began singing in junior high when she joined school choirs and began taking voice lessons. She continued choral singing and voice lessons through high school and went on to sing at Weber State University, where she received a scholarship for vocal performance. Ariel attributes her musical involvement with helping her to overcome her innate shyness (and stage fright). She auditioned for her first solo in high school, and has enjoyed being a soloist on many occasions since. In recent years, Ariel has been privileged to sing with the Utah Master Chorale, under the direction of Cameron Rose, and with the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir, under the direction of Dr. Michael Huff. Music is an important and fulfilling part of Ariel's life. She is so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Utah Voices and to work with Dr. Huff again.

Ariel enjoys spending time with her husband, Sean, and their beautiful daughter, Serena. She also loves reading, crocheting and going to the opera whenever possible. Ariel currently serves as the Music Chair and Choir Director for her church choir.

Assistant Treasurer - Erik Thompson
ethompson_mediumWhen Erik was very young, a music leader at church noticed that he had a special love of music, and was less rowdy than the other kids during the songs; he actually liked to sing! She encouraged his parents to get a piano.  He took lessons for several years and enjoys playing by ear.  He has loved singing ever since he can remember.   Music is an essential part of his life.

After singing in high school and touring Europe with the A Capella Choir at the University of Utah, he was sure there wouldn't be another choir that could compare with his past.  Utah Voices and Verux Vox Vocis continue to exceed his expectations.  Erik is so happy to have found this group of talented, inspired musicians and choir is once again a great joy in his life.
